Feryal Banday, Murray Edwards

Biographical Information

I am a first year PhD English Student at University of Cambridge, funded by Gates Cambridge trust and a member of Murray Edwards college. Before coming to Cambridge, I did MA. English from Jamia Millia Islamia where I was a gold medalist, and I did my BA (hons) English from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi.

 

Research Interests

My Research Interests are - 

Anglophone literatures, literatures from the global south, South Asian literatures, ‘National’ literatures and thought,  Translated literatures (English, Urdu, Kashmiri), translation theory, settler colonialist histories, literatures of war and conflict, resistance literatures, histories of photography, documentary and film, nineteenth century novel, twentieth century feminist literatures, twentieth century de-colonial novels and plays, twenty first century literature with a focus on feminist and queer, first person narratives, queer theory, feminist theory, critical race theory, social media as a text, popular music history, canonical literary theory and criticism, marxist literary theory and criticism, nature writing, landscapes and climate change.

 

Teaching Interests

 

I am happy to be contacted for supervision opportunities for Paper 1 (Part IA, IB, and II), Paper 7A and 7B (Part I) and 10D(Part I). I am also keen to supervise Paper 11 (Part II), Paper 13 (Part II), Paper 14 (Part II), Paper 17 (Part II) and Paper 18 (Part II).  I am happy to be contacted to supervise dissertations on postcolonial writings, feminist and queer writings, film and documentaries, nature and climate fiction, and other dissertations in my research area and adjacent fields.
